The short answer is yes, cockapoo is without a doubt a mutt. The reason for this is because it’s a cross between two purebred such as the cocker spaniel and poodles. Upon owning a cockapoo you are looking to get the characteristics of both parents.
As a dog owner it doesn’t really matter if someone call my dog a mutt! The thing is that I love my dog and once I’m comfortable that’s all that matters because people have their own opinions so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Cross Breeding Benefits
There are several benefits that comes with crossbreeding a cocker spaniel and a poodle since it will prevent your dog from constantly shedding, cause them to be friendly among others and help them to be super smart. If it’s a case where you are suffering from allergies, then having a cockapoo might just be the way to go. You’ll find that most cockapoo are available in white, brown, champagne, black or red.
Controversy Surrounding Mutts
If you have ever taken the time out to check out a few cockapoo Facebook groups, then you may notice several comments made by mostly pure bred owners who just hate seeing cockapoos. I really don’t see the problem with owning a cockapoo because I can definitely acknowledge that they are amazing and great to have as apart of your family.
One of the biggest concern is with the price of these dogs. We are happy to say that we have an expensive mutt due to the fact that they tend to range from $1,500 to even $3,000.
The good news is that there are lots of benefits that comes with owning a cockapoo and if it’s a case where you are planning on owning a dog, then cockapoos would make a great choice.
